Your PSA for the day...
Here's your PSA for the day. You guys, essential oils are popping up everywhere. $3 lavender essential oil from Walmart does not have any lavender in it. This is a deceiving industry and it's very important to do your homework. I used to think that buying organic oils from Whole Foods were the best and now I know better through educating myself. My friend Ashley said it best, "Friends don't let friends buy shitty oils".
Another fellow oily mama says it best....

"So, it's no secret that I love using essential oils. And, as it turns out, I'm not the only one - the essential oil industry is expected to double in the next 5 years. Fact. Another fact is that it is expected to become a $50 billion industry by 2020!!!
What does this mean? It means that if you aren't currently using oils, it is likely that you will be in the next 4 years. People are demanding healthier products - and rightly so! Watch "The Human Experiment" on Netflix if you haven't. You'll understand why I and millions of others are making the switch to natural options and essential oils.
So why *wouldn't* companies give the masses what they want? New companies keep popping up. I get it! I absolutely do! But what companies like the ones mentioned above *don't* understand is that putting a $9.99 bottle of essential oil in someone's hand is NOT fulfilling the need they are asking to be met.
How do you get a $9.99 bottle of essential oil? One of 2 ways:
1. Buy plants from farmers on the cheap. Which begs the question: How do you get cheap plants? Just ask your local farmer: Spray them with chemicals to keep bugs off and weeds away so you don't have to pay people to tend the fields (which is exactly why I love local organic farmers! It's a labor of love!).
2. Dump chemicals into the still during distillation (the process where you get the oils out of the plants) to speed up the time it takes to get the oils out of the plants. Time = money. Unfortunately for the companies that do this, they don't realize that essential oil distillation is a science, and without the science, you can actually harm the heck out of people's bodies. Cheap oils on your skin can mean chemical burns and/or irritation.
This is a PSA from your "local" essential oil lady: Don't waste your money or risk your health. Young Living is the *only* essential oil company that owns its own farms and partners with trusted growers. They are the only ones that control the process from the seed to the bottle. They are the only company with over 20+ years of experience with essential oils. They don't have competitors because literally no one else comes *close* to this sort of knowledge and experience when producing oils.
When you are ready for oils, save yourself the time, frustration, and energy. Young Living is where it's at. I've been using Young Living for a little over 2 1/2 years, have done a great deal of research, and continue to do so. I only use these oils - especially on my kiddos. Not only are the oils top quality, but the diffusers are medical-grade plastic and come with a warranty. You can essentially get an $80 diffuser for *free* when you purchase your starter kit based on the retail cost of the oils!
Truly, friends don't let friends do ridiculous things like buy low quality oil from places like BB&B, Walmart, and - for the love - Amazon. It's so scary how easy it is to adulterate oils and resell them on Amazon. Videos on YouTube explain the process. Ultimately, you WILL get what you pay for.
And with no regulatory agency overseeing the labeling process of this industry, a company that puts SOME essential oil in a bottle (say 10%) can still claim 100% pure essential oil because there is in fact SOME 100% pure essential oil in it without being required to label the other ingredients. I mean, what even makes up the other 90%?!?!
While I love my Amazon Prime like the rest of us, I stick to Young Living for my essential oils. Straight from the seed to the sealed bottle. We have a 100% purity guarantee. We give back to incredible organizations through our foundation. And we have the best support system and education resources around!"
